How to Apply

If you have are motivated and ready to work hard as a student and a corporate employee, then Cristo Rey may be a perfect fit for you. Detroit Cristo Rey High School may accept up to 125 students per academic school year. All students are welcome to apply beginning in the fall of their eighth grade year.

NOTE: All applicants must be 14 years of age by September 1, 2012 in order to apply.

1. Schedule a Shadow Day to experience a typical day at Detroit Cristo Rey High School

Every Tuesday and Friday (7:15am to 1pm). Call to Schedule your visit today!

2. Attend Open House (dates below)
3. Take the High School Placement Test (details below) 
4. Application: Apply online or In-Person Only:

Student must interview with Admission Director and Corporate Work Study team member. (Call to schedule your interview today!)

Parent must fill out a Private Student Aid Service form.

5. Registration - Applicants who complete all four steps successfully may be invited to register.

IMPORTANT ADMISSIONS DATES

Open House is an opportunity for families to tour Detroit Cristo Rey High School, meet students and staff, and learn more about the curriculum. Tours generally last an hour and include short presentations made by Detroit Cristo Rey academic departments and DCR students. For families interested in attending Detroit Cristo Rey High School’s Open House: the school is located next to the Holy Redeemer church (park in the parking lot in the back of the school). Please call the Admissions Director for more information.

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST

Eighth grade students interested in attending Detroit Cristo Rey High School must take the High School Placement Test in November, December, February, or March. After these dates, transfer students and late eighth grade registrants may make individual application by contacting the Admissions Office at 313-843-2747 (ext. 17). Parents are welcome to stay to fill out any application paperwork on these scheduled test dates.

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST DATES

Saturday March 24, 2012 7:45am – 12pm

The High School Placement test, measuring proficiency in English, reading, vocabulary, math, problem solving and science, is administered to eighth grade students.

There is a $24.00 fee for High School Placement Tests. Payments via cash or checks payable to Detroit Cristo Rey High School will be accepted.

A snack will be provided during the break.

NO calculators allowed.
