Welcome to Detroit Cristo Rey High School!
The mission of Detroit Cristo Rey High School is alive and visible every day in our hallways. Students here are given the opportunity to excel academically and individually during their Cristo Rey career. Many other high schools talk about preparing students for college and the workplace, but at Detroit Cristo Rey High School we actually do it!
Our rigorous college prep curriculum prepares students for the challenges of college, while our unique Corporate Work Study Program provides students with real world work experiences. After four years at Detroit Cristo Rey, students will have gained the academic skills to succeed in college and have four years of corporate work experience to add to their resumes. In addition, our graduates are provided ongoing support as they transition into college.
Detroit Cristo Rey employs dedicated, hardworking teachers who create engaging lesson plans while also fostering a caring, nurturing classroom environment that supports all students. Our student body and our teachers create a positive, safe, welcoming building culture. The Detroit Cristo Rey family cares for each other, supports each other and we welcome students and parents from across the city and beyond.
At Detroit Cristo Rey we begin each day together for morning announcements and prayer, and we end each school day with an extra-curricular period. This extra-curricular time allows students to see teachers for additional support, meet with clubs, have quiet study time, or make up missed tests or quizzes.
I am very excited and proud to be the Principal of Detroit Cristo Rey High School. Prior to coming to Detroit Cristo Rey I spent 18 years in Rochester Community Schools, 12 years as an assistant principal, and 6 years as the Principal at Rochester Adams High School. Before becoming an administrator, I taught high school and middle school science in Southfield and San Antonio Texas. I also have coached football and softball and I was involved in student clubs and activities. I earned a BS degree and MS degree in Biology from Eastern Michigan University and an Education Specialist in School Administration degree from Oakland University.
